Moving Up the Hierarchy

Four commands are available for moving up the mode hierarchy. They are
the EXIT, QUIT, END and DISABLE commands.

EXIT and QUIT

Commands

These commands, which are functionally identical, are found in nearly all
of the modes. They move you up one level in the hierarchy, as illustrated
in Figure 6.

END Command

You may want to return to the User Exec mode or the Privileged Exec
mode after you have configured a feature. While you can step back
through the modes one at a time with the EXIT or QUIT command, the
END command moves you directly to the Privileged Exec mode from any
mode below the Global Configuration mode.
