Configuration

Tips

The console interface can initiate and configure remote units as though they were
locally connected. To do so reuires three things, first, every unit must have a
different unit number to allow remote connection. Second, an address on the link
between the local unit and the remote unit. For example, if the two units are linked
across an X.25 network, a logical channel for this connection is needed. In the
local unit, configure a logical channel with an unused address and the
corresponding subaddress. In the access list, define an access with the name
corresponding to the desired unit number, for example, 001. Remember to enter
the appropriate X.25 address. Third, make sure that the remote unit has the
corresponding logical channel on its X.25 port and its unit number is the one used
for the local access name. You are now ready to initiate a connection.
