Reserve Channel Command
The Reserve Channel Command parameter prohibits messages from being sent to a
terminal. The primary use of this command is during a file transfer when a
message from the Send command would cause the transfer to fail. For example, if
the command is ?RESV, the following could be entered at the terminal:
?RESV
The choices are an ASCII string of up to six characters. The default is RESERV.
Greeting Message
The Greeting Message parameter is sent to a terminal when it comes on-line.
Typically, this capability is used in a dial-up applications to inform users of a
successful connection. To enter a non-displayable character like the ESC (X"1B"),
the hexadecimal value of that character must be enclosed with the @ character. For
example, to put an ESC character at the beginning of the message, enter @1B@,
followed by the message itself. The choices are an ASCII string of up to 127
characters. The default is
Connected to Message
The Connected to Message parameter is sent to a station when it has issued a
successful Connect Command. It informs the user, the host, or other device to
which the user is now connected. The name of the host or other device is appended
to the end of the message. The choices are an ASCII string of up to 80 characters.

Message Lost
The Message Lost parameter informs the user that the last message transmitted was
not acknowledged by the host. It indicates a failure somewhere between the device
and the host to which it is connected. The choices are an ASCII string of up to 80

Host Offline Message
The Host Offline Message parameter informs that the unit has declared the host
system connection or attempted connection offline. If the host is not actually down,
this could be caused by a failure in the data communications hardware between the
host and the communications platform. The name of the host is appended to the

Not Connected Message
The Not Connected Message parameter informs that an attempt to connect to a
host was invalid. This is normally due to a typographical error when the Connect
Command was issued. Check the spelling of the host name and try again. This
message is also issued when the station is logically disconnected from the network
or attempts to connect to an unauthorized host. The choices are an ASCII string of
