F - Output Only This option is used for printers to reduce the number of polls in the poll string for
a port. As shown in Figure 10-10, the MultiPro unit first polls the device to make
sure it is on-line and establishes a connection for it if the Auto Connect option is
set. After a connection has been established for the device, the MultiPro no longer
polls it since a printer rarely needs to send data to the host. The only time the
MultiPro communicates with the device is if it has a message to send to it.
The NMCS screen (Figure 10-11) demonstrates the difference in station
configuration for output-only devices.
