Trailing PAD Characters

Pad characters are dummy characters sent at the end of a synchronous transmission.
The selection is 0 to 2.

End to End Flow Control

Since the Bisync port can buffer multiple messages, it must be able to
communicate to the other end of the link that all available buffers are being used
and no more messages should be accepted. This field should always be set to yes.
The selections are Y (yes) and N (no).

Turnaround Delay

The Turnaround Delay is the time, in milliseconds, the unit waits between the
receipt of a message and the transmission of the response. If the connected device
seems to be missing messages because they are coming back too quickly, increase
this value. Use a value of 10 for sync lines, and a value of 0 for async. The values
for this parameter are in 10-millisecond increments. A value that is not a factor of
10 rounds down to the nearest 10-millisecond factor.

Example: A value of 15 rounds down to 10 milliseconds.

The selections are 0 to 2550, 10.

Peripheral Selection Timer

This timer is used to periodically check the state of a station while a peripheral
operation is in progress. The selections are 1 to 255, 60.

RTS/CTS CONTROL

This parameter controls the RTS (request to send) and CTS (clear to send)
signaling. The DTE /DCE setting of the port determines which lead is affected by
this parameter as shown in Table 9-1.

Timeouts to Mark Offline

This field determines the consecutive number of times a station can time out before
the unit marks it offline. The selections are 1 to 255, 3.

Drop DTR If DCD Drops

This parameter applies to dial-up applications. When set to Y (yes), DTR performs
an on-to-off transition for 500 milliseconds then returns to the on state. The
selections are Y (yes) and N (no).

Table 9-1 RTS/CTS Control

Setting

DTE

DCE

O (on)

RTS is always on.

CTS is always on.

D (dynamic)

RTS is on during
data transmit.

CTS is on in
response to RTS.

F (floating)

RTS is not used.

CTS is not used.
