Addresses
To establish a logical connection with another port on the TXPORT device, an
address must be defined on this port. This address makes this port either send a
connection request or accept a connection request from another port, depending on
the application. When the address menu is selected, the following is displayed.
Line
Module
This field indicates the line module number of the port being displayed. Entering a
different line module number and pressing F10 transfers the program to the same
port on the new line module.
Port
The port field indicates the number of the port being displayed. A different port is
selected by entering its number here and pressing F10.
Terminal
Address
Any valid address may be entered in this field. There is one entry on this port. The
address is used strictly to provide an internal connection within the TXPORT
network.
Connecting
Address
This field is used to convert the terminal address to another unique address. The
connecting address is primarily used when two identical addresses on separate
terminal ports are connected to the same host port. Since having two identical
addressees on a host port is not allowed, one of the addresses must be converted.
The TXPORT device makes a connection to the host port using the connecting
address field.
