Contention Frequency
Contention frequency is the time, in seconds, the unit delays between sending
contention polls. This parameter is only valid if Algorithm is set to Contention.
The selections are 1 to 255, 10.
Trailing Pad Characters
Pad characters are dummy characters sent at the end of a synchronous transmission.
Two PAD characters should be used for sync lines, while 0 are used on async and
TDI. The selections are 0 to 2.
Turnaround Delay
The turnaround delay is the time, in milliseconds, that the unit waits between the
receipt of a message and the transmission of the response. If the connected device
seems to be missing messages because they are coming back too quickly, increase
this value. A value of 10 should be used for sync lines, while a value of 0 is set for
async and TDI. On the 9000 series, a value of 10 is needed for Unisys PWT270s
for TDI.
The values for this parameter are in 10-millisecond increments. A value that is not
a factor of 10 rounds down to the nearest 10-millisecond factor.
Example: A value of 15 rounds down to 10 milliseconds.
The selections are 0 to 2550, 10.
Consecutive Contention Poll
This field determines the consecutive number of contention polls that are issued
before polling each individual station on the port. This field is only used when the
Algorithm parameter is set to Contention. The selections are 1 to 255, 10.
RTS/CTS Control
This parameter controls the RTS (request to send) and CTS (clear to send)
signaling. The DTE /DCE setting of the port determines which lead is affected by
this parameter as is shown in Table 5-1.
Timeouts to Mark Offline
This field determines the consecutive number of times a station can timeout before
the unit marks it offline. The selections are 1 to 255, 3.
Table 5-1 RTS/CTS Control Parameters
Setting
DTE
DCE
O (on)
RTS is always on.
CTS is always on.
D (dynamic)
RTS is on during data transmit.
CTS is on in response to RTS.
F (floating)*
RTS is not used.
CTS is not used.
* When using the TDI, Floating is required.
