CU Address

This field should be filled in with the EBCDIC hexadecimal value of the CU
address for the station. Valid entries are hexadecimal 40, 4A to 4F, 50, 5A to 5F,
C1 to C9, and D1 to D9.

Device Address

This field should be filled in with the EBCDIC hexadecimal value of the device
address for the station. Valid entries are hexadecimal 40, 4A to 4F, 50, 5A to 5F,
C1 to C9, and D1 to D9.

Connection Address

This field is used to specify the address to be used in making a connection through
the TXPORT device network. Normally, this field is left blank and is automatically
filled in when the configuration is downloaded. The address is created by
converting the CU and device addresses to ASCII. If a conversion is needed to
connect to the host port, a different address may be entered.

Station Name

Each station in a configuration must be assigned a unique name. This can be up to
17 characters and cannot include spaces. Generally, the station is assigned the same
name or number the host computer uses, however, this is not required. Any naming
convention can be used as long as each name is unique.

Default Host

This field represents the host port the station connects to when the unit is powered
on. A valid destination must be entered for the station to successfully make a
connection upon power on, otherwise the Connect command must be used.

Options

A. Auto Connect on Power up.

When the unit is first powered on or reset, the

controller polls each device. When a response is received, the controller tries to
establish a logical connection to the host named in the Default Host field. The
normal setting is Y. See page 165 for further information.

B. Don't Send Status Message.

When set to Y, the status messages defined on the

message screen are not sent to the terminal. This option should always be set to Y.

C. Reserved Channel.

When set to Y, this option indicates that this device reject

messages sent using the Send command. The normal setting is N.

D. Device is sharable.

Set this option to Y when multiple hosts need to share this

device. When set to Y, option A must be set to N and Auto connect on Select must
be set to Y on the host port. This is typically set when a line printer is shared by
multiple hosts. The normal setting is N. See page 168 for further information.

A timer is started when a host has finished sending data to a sharable device. After
two minutes the connection is dropped and the station waits for a connection from
the next host.
