Introduction
This chapter provides specific information for the IP Layer application and how it
operates using the TXPORT MultiPro platform and NMCS software.
IP Layer
Description
The IP Layer application is the implementation of the IP Layer of the TCP/IP
architecture based on RFC 791. The TXPORT IP Layer supports the Address
Resolution Protocol (ARP RFC 826) and a subset of the Internet Control Message
Protocol (ICMP RFC 792 including ICMP router discovery messages RFC 1256).
The IP Layer is intended to provide communication services to the IP PAD, to the
TCP stack, or to the UDP layer that itself provides communication services to the
SNMP agent.
