Asynchronous Terminal Parameters
105
Active If
DSR/DCD
The DSR/DCD parameter determines what leads must be present for the port to be
active. The physical DTE/DCE setting of the port also effects how these leads are
interpreted. Table 6-4 describes how the DSR and DCD leads should be set. No
activity takes place on this port until the conditions of this parameter are met.
Alternate
Port
The alternate port is the name of another TTY host port where a connection can be
transferred if this port is off-line.
Full
Duplex
This setting should match the attached device. When set Y, the unit echoes
characters to the device. When set N, the unit does not echo characters. The
selections are Y (yes) and N (no).
User Field
Length
The user field length parameter specifies the minimum length of the user field. The
user field usually occupies all the available space between the current cursor
position and the end of the same line. If this space is not large enough, the user
field ends on another line. If the end of page is reached, the user field may be
smaller than the specified length. The selections are 0 to 1920, 20.
Flow
Control
This parameter selects the method(s) of controlling the flow of data between the terminal
and the unit. Valid selections are X - Xon/Xoff, D - DTR, C - CTS, and N - None.
Selections may be combined. An entry of XD initiates both Xon/Xoff and DTR flow
control.
Suppress
Trailing Blanks
When set to Y, the unit strips all trailing spaces of a message before transmitting it
out the port. This is used primarily with TTY emulation when a T-27 device is
communicating with a TTY host. The selections are Y (yes) and N (no).
Input
Terminator
Setting this parameter determines the trigger to send received data to the remote
device. The selections are shown in Table 6-5.
