Channel List
Options
The MultiPro platform supports several variations within the X.25 transport
protocol. These variations are accessed through station level options within the
X.25 channel list and help integrate the MultiPro platform into a variety of
network situations. Each option is described below along with a diagram depicting
a typical application for that option.
Option A - Transparent Channel
When marked as transparent, a channel passes the user data and facility fields of a
call request as well as the Q-bit of a data packet through the unit unchanged.
Transparent channels usually come in pairs. That is to say one X.25 port receives
data from a foreign device on a transparent channel and relays it to another
transparent channel on an outgoing X.25 port. This allows the MultiPro unit to act
as a pseudo switch to transport foreign X.25 devices over a MultiPro network.
