Area Parameters
To add or modify an OSPF Area from the main OSPF area menu, press F3 or F2
and Figure 18-5 appears. To list all configured areas, press F4.
Defaults are shown underlined.
Line Module
This field indicates the line module number of the port currently displayed.
Entering a different line module number and pressing F10 transfers the screen to
the same port on the new line module.
Area Number
Each Area Number must be unique and range from 1 to 255. Area ID, Address
Summary, and Mask of this Summary Area parameters must be configured.
Enable This Area
Set this to Yes to enable this area. The default value is Yes.
Area ID
This parameter has the same format has the IP Address or the Mask address. An
Area allows growth and makes the networks at a site easier to manage. An area is
self-contained; knowledge of an area’s topology remains hidden from other areas.
Thus, multiple groups within a given site retain the ability to change their internal
network topology independently.
