Section 7 — DVE Option Configuration

The DVE option also requires at least one of the three background audio
sources. Keep the following in mind:

If the Maestro processor will use embedded audio, no additional hard-
ware is required for DVE operation.

If the system includes a Grass Valley Apex audio router, contact Cus-
tomer Support to verify whether or not the customers Apex router sup-
ported MADI.

Each Maestro MADI BNC input supports 64 audio channels (32 AES
streams).

The IN-1 MADI connection is an audio expansion to the four
Maestro background buses.

The IN-2 MADI connection is an audio expansion to the four
Maestro Audio Mixers.

Maestro Background and Audio Mixer MADI expansion is enabled on
a per channel basis in the Channel Setup table of the Maestro Configu-
ration Editor.

A maximum of two direct Audio Mixer sources are supported in
Maestro whether the Audio Mixer MADI expansion is enabled or not.

Note

If needed, at least one Sonata AES-to-MADI converter is required for each
Maestro channel processor on which the DVE mezzanine is installed. An addi-
tional Sonata converter may be needed for each Maestro channel that
requires routed audio over sources. Direct connect audio over sources (lim-
ited to 2 Direct sources) do not require a Sonata converter. However, using
either external BNC inputs or MADI is mutually exclusive. Therefore, if the
Maestro channel is configured for Audio Mixer MADI expansion, the rear
panel Over BNC inputs are not functional. See

ning and Installation Manual.
