Inspection Tools

The threshold adjustments determine how the profile image is divided into
foreground and background objects and where edges are detected by the
profile tool. When you adjust the threshold setting, the position of the
threshold display will move in relation to the profile display. The mode
selection determines whether the threshold setting will be fixed or “dynamic”
during run mode operations.
When you pick the
button on the profile tool edit panel, the
Threshold
adjustment panel appears on the screen, as shown by
Figure 7.136.
Figure 7.136 Initial Appearance of Threshold Adjustment Panel (“Fixed” Mode)
Figure 7.136 shows how the
Threshold
panel appears initially, in its default
state (the “
Fixed
” threshold mode): It contains a
Threshold
slide bar with a
single cursor, two fields, and three buttons. The appearance of this panel, as
well as its function, will vary according to the “threshold mode” selection in
the
Mode
field.
Slide Bar
When the
Threshold
panel is in the initial (“
Fixed
”) mode, the
“
Threshold
” slide bar provides a means by which you can quickly set the
threshold in relation to the profile image. Picking the
Threshold
field
accesses a calculator pad, which enables you to “fine tune” the threshold
setting to a specific value.
