Environment Menu Selections

Note that the
Environment
panel contains several “buttons.” Here is a brief
description of their functions:
•
Add –– Use the
button to add new variables.
•
Delete –– Use the
button to delete the highlighted variables file.
•
Edit –– Use the
button to edit the highlighted variables file.
•
Archive –– Use the
button to archive the highlighted variables
file in a specified device.
•
Restore –– Use the
button to restore a previously archived
variables file.
•
Done –– Use the
button to exit to the main menu bar.
The example in Figure 10.4 illustrates a list of system variables, whose
settings and parameters affect the overall operation of the CVIM2 system.
Some variables can be set by utilities outside this menu. In particular, the
“
porta=x . . .
” items show the parameters set under the RS–232 serial port
panels (see RS–232 Serial Port Setup following this section); and, the
“
cfg=xx:
” item is the configuration file selected in the
Config
Files
panel (see Configuration File Selection, page 10–2). For a complete
list of user–selectable environment variables, refer to Appendix B.
Editing Variables
NOTE: It is normally not necessary to edit the variables in the
Environment
panel.
The general procedure for editing a variable is to pick (highlight) the
variable, then pick the
button. When you do, the keyboard appears,
as shown in Figure 10.5.
