Mode
When you pick the
Mode
field in the
Define Feature
menu, the
Feature
Mode
selection menu appears on the screen, as shown in Figure 7.20.

The feature modes are described briefly as follows:
•
All Edges –– This feature mode causes the gage to include all detected
“edges” along its length in its search for a specified feature (this includes
edges and all midpoints between each pair of consecutive edges, the
center between the extreme edges, and the starting end of the gage).
•
Max Object –– This feature mode restricts the search for a specified
feature to the leading edge and the midpoint of the largest identified
“object” along the length of the gage.
•
Max F. Object –– This feature mode restricts the search for a specified
feature to the leading edge and the midpoint of the largest identified
“foreground object” along the length of the gage.
•
Max B. Object –– This feature mode restricts the search for a specified
feature to the leading edge and the midpoint of the largest identified
“background object” along the length of the gage.
NOTE: The terms “foreground object” and “background object” have
different meanings for binary and gray scale gaging modes. Refer to the
Foreground Objects; Background Objects section on page 7–8 for
definitions of these terms.
