Loops –– This field enables you to set the number of results to produce
when
Multiple
operation is selected.
•
Nominal –– When you pick this field, the currently selected and
configured math tool performs a test operation, and the results data from
the operation appear in this field. The type of results data depends on the
formula and the selected operation (
Single
or
Multiple
). The initial value
is 0.000.
•
Formula –– The
button accesses the math tool’s formula entry
keyboard, which is used to configure all formulas.
•
Ranges –– The
button accesses the range–selection panel, which
can be used to define range limits for formula results.
•
Values –– The
button is active only when the
Multiple
operation
is selected. When you pick this button, the
Math Values
panel appears
and lists one or more results values from the formula.
•
P&P Name –– The
button accesses the
Pick & Place
panel,
which enables you to reposition the math tool name within the image.
•
Done –– When you pick the
button, the system exits back to the
toolset edit panel.
NOTE: If an “illegal” name is entered (such as “
tin
” for the trig function
“
tan
”), or an “illegal” math sequence used (such as “
{Tool 1} +
”), a “
Bad
formula.
” message box will appear on the screen.
A math tool can be selected when the toolset edit panel is on the screen.
Starting from the main menu bar, the selection path to this panel is as
follows: Editors
→ Configuration → Setup → Tools. This selection path
is shown by the example in Figure 7.1 (page 7–2).
Here is a summary list of the basic math tool configuration steps, listed in
their normal order of performance:
1. Select math tool operation mode.
2. Select number of loops (Multiple operation).
3. Select formula keyboard.
4. Configure formula.
5. Learn nominal value.
6. Check values (Multiple operation).
7. Select ranges.
8. “Pick and place” math tool name.
