The reference window edit panel (named “ Edit Toolset 1.Tool 2 ” in
Figure 6.23) contains several fields and buttons, which are described briefly,
as follows:
•
Active Feature –– This field selects either Feature A or Feature B as
the “active feature” to be configured. When you pick this field, Feature
A toggles to Feature B , or vice versa.
•
Image Name –– This field identifies the name of the currently selected
feature image (or “
No Image ,” if none is selected). When you pick this
field, the Image Manager panel appears, which is used to save or select
an image file for the feature window.
•
Passes –– This field selects either Single Pass or Double Pass , which
is the number of passes the feature window makes through the search
window. When you toggle this field,
Single Pass toggles to Double
Pass , or vice versa.
•
Nominal –– When you pick this field, the currently selected and
configured reference window tool stores the current part position, to be
used during inspection to compute the workpiece’s offset from the
“nominal” position.
•
Pass 1 –– The button selects the First Pass panel, from which
you can select the parameters that the feature window uses to scan the
search window on the first (or only) pass.
•
Pass 2 –– The button selects the Second Pass panel, from
which you can select the parameters that the feature uses to scan the
search window on the second pass.
•
P&P –– The button provides access to the “pick and place” function
for the current search window.
•
Done –– The button saves the currently selected configuration
settings for this feature, then exits the tool edit panel and returns to the
toolset edit panel.
The remainder of the reference window tool section discusses the
configuration process from the perspective of the fields and buttons in the
tool edit panel.
A reference window tool can be selected when the toolset edit panel is on the
screen. Starting from the main menu bar, the selection path to this panel is as
follows: Editors
→ Configuration → Setup → Tools. This selection path
is shown by the example in Chapter 7, Inspection Tools, Figure 7.2 (page
7–3).
Here is a summary of the basic selection and configuration steps for a
reference window tool, listed in their normal order of performance.
1. Select active feature –– select one of the two “active features.”
