Chapter 4
Inspect the control cable routing to ensure that DC Control wiring and AC
control wiring are separated from each other. Routing them together in the same
bundle, wire-way or panduit may result in unwanted noise being induced in the
drive control. In the overhead cable tray provided at the front of the drive, ensure
that the AC Control, DC control and Fiber optic cables remain isolated from
each other by the dividers provided.
Inspect for additional control not shown on the electrical diagram. Determine its
purpose, mark the changes on the electrical diagram and send the prints to the
factory for future reference.
Perform a tug test on all control cables to ensure that they are securely fastened,
and check each plug and connector to ensure it is properly seated in its socket.
Liquid-Cooling Connections
Drives with a Liquid-to-Air Heat Exchanger will require external piping from the
heat exchanger to be connected to the inlet and outlet pipe fittings on the back of
the cooling section. See
Pipe Materials and Layout on page 76
.
show the drive flange connections and required bolt
torque. Use the 1/8 in. Elastomer gasket supplied.
The rear view of the cooling cabinet shown in
shows the location of the
inlet and outlet for the drive cooling system. It is very important to connect the
outlet of the drive to the inlet of the heat exchanger, and the outlet of the heat
exchanger to the inlet of the drive. Reversing these connections will limit the heat
exchanger efficiency.
Drives with a Liquid-to-Liquid Heat Exchanger will require external piping from
the heat exchanger to be connected to the inlet and outlet pipe fittings on the
internal heat exchanger in the cooling cabinet.
shows the cross-section of the internal connections, and the
external connection needs to be compatible with a 1.00 inch NPT female
connector. The drawing clearly indicates that the S1 connection is the inlet, and
the S2 connection is the outlet.
Please refer to
when commissioning the drive cooling
system.
ATTENTION: Ensure that there is sufficient clearance between the installed
control wiring to the control cabinet and components carrying medium voltage.
Verify that closing the low voltage door does not swing the low voltage cables
into the medium voltage cabling section.
