Nitiators

LUN Mapping must be enabled in order for Vess R2000 to recognize an initiator.

To view a list of FC or iSCSI initiators:

1. From the Main Menu, highlight

Additional Info and Management

and press

Enter

.

2. Highlight

LUN Mapping

and press

Enter

.

3. Highlight

LUN Mapping:

Initiators and press

Enter

.

A list of the current initiators appears.

You must add an initiator to the Vess R2000’s initiator list in order to use the initiator to create a LUN.

To add an initiator to the Vess R2000’s list:

1. From the Main Menu, highlight

Additional Info and Management

and press

Enter

.

2. Highlight

LUN Mapping

and press

Enter

.

3. Highlight

LUN Mapping: Initiators

and press

Enter

.

4. Highlight

Create New Initiator

and press

Enter

.

5.

Type a name for the initiator in the field provided.

Fibre Channel

– A Fibre Channel initiator name is the World Wide Port Name of

the device and is composed of a series of eight, two-digit hexadecimal numbers.
Example:

10-00-00-00-c9-73-2e-8b

iSCSI

– An iSCSI initiator name is the iSCSI name of the initiator

device and is composed of a single text string.
Example:

iqn.1991-05.com.microsoft:promise-29353b7

Obtain the initiator name from the initiator utility on your host system.
Note that the initiator name you input must match exactly in order for the connection to

work.

6. Highlight

Save Initiator

and press enter.

The new initiator appears in the list.
