Select multiple events with the arrow keys

Hold Shift and press the Left or Right Arrow key. Keep both Shift and the arrow key held down to
select multiple events.
Refine your event selection
Use the event type buttons to filter the list of displayed events and speed up your workflow.

Click any of the event type buttons alone, or in conjunction with, specific selection commands
available in the Edit > Select menu or as key commands. These include:
•
All (default key command assignment: Command-A): Selects all visible events.
•
All Following (default key command assignment: Shift-F): Selects all events after (below) the
currently selected event.
Note: When a marquee selection is active, using this key command extends the marquee
selection—over all tracks within a marquee selection—to the project end point.
•
All Following of Same Pitch (default key command assignment: Option-Shift-F): Selects all events
of the same pitch that follow the currently selected note event.
Note: When a marquee selection is active, using this key command extends the marquee
selection—over all tracks within a marquee selection—to the project end point.

All Inside Locators (default key command assignment: Shift-L): Selects all events that fall within
the locator boundaries.
Note: When a marquee selection is active, using this key command sets the marquee selection
to match the locators.

Invert Selection (default key command assignment: Shift-I): Selects all unselected events.
•
Muted Events (default key command assignment: Shift-M): Selects all muted events. This selection
command is usually a precursor for deletion (Delete).
•
Overlapped Events: Selects all events that overlap one another. This is usually the end of one
event, and the start of the following event.
•
Equal Colored Events (default key command assignment: Shift-C): Selects all equal colored events.
•
Equal Events (default key command assignment: Shift-E): Selects identical events (same event
type and value).
•
Similar Events (default key command assignment: Shift-S): Selects all C#3 note events,
for example.
•
Same MIDI Channel (default key command assignment: Shift-H): Selects events on the same
MIDI channel.
•
Same Subposition (default key command assignment: Shift-P): Selects events that start at the
same position.
•
Highest Notes (default key command assignment: Shift-Up Arrow): Selects note events that are
higher in pitch than the selected note event.
•
Lowest Notes (default key command assignment: Shift-Down Arrow): Selects note events that are
lower in pitch than the selected note event.
•
Previous Event (default key command assignment: Left Arrow): Selects the event that precedes
the selected event.
•
Next Event (default key command assignment: Right Arrow): Selects the event that follows the
selected event.
•
Deselect All (default key command assignment: Shift-Command-A): Deselects all events.
•
Deselect Outside Locators: Deselects all events outside the locator borders.
