About Event Manager

Event Manager lets you view, clear, sort and filter events from managed elements. An event can be

anything that occurs on the element, such as a device connected to a Brocade switch has gone

off-line. It provides the following information about the events:

ID

- The identification number assigned to the event

Element

- The source of the event. An element can be a switch, host, application, fabric or

anything else on the network.

Severity

- Provides the severity level

Time

- The time the event was recorded.

Summary Text

- A brief explanation of the event. When you click the summary text, the details

of the event are displayed.

Element Type

- Specifies whether the source of this event is an application, a host, etc.

Rank

- The cost implication. This column is hidden until you enable it, as described in ”

Enabling

the Rank Column in Event Manager

” on page 427.

The top of the Event Manager pane provides a subtotal of the severity of the events and the number

of events from the different element types. For example, in the following figure, zero critical events

were found, but 23 events were found to have a severity level of minor and one of “Warning”. The

definition for each severity level varies according to the type of element.
