Section 1 — System Overview
■
Resource Manager CPU and I/O modules — The Resource Manager
CPU module is the center of systems communication between the
Control Panel, Video Processors, and System Controller frame in multi-
channel systems. Two different types of Resource Manager CPUs exist,
one used for the Small System Controller and one for the Large System
Controller. The Resource Manager
I/O module interfaces between the Resource Manager CPU module
and the rest of the Krystal system.
■
Input Recursive module — This module allows the processing of
incoming video for freeze, mosaic, and motion decay effects that appear
within the incoming video raster.
■
Output Recursive module — This module allows the processing of
output (post transform) video for freeze, motion decay, montage, and
trail effects that can appear outside and inside the raster of the
incoming video.
■
Defocus module — This module permits altering the sharpness of
video and key signals, for defocus and glow effects.
■
2 x 2 Combiner module — This module provides mixing and keying cir-
cuitry for combining two foreground video and key inputs and a back-
ground matte or video input in various ways.
■
2 x 2 Combiner Input and Output modules — The 2 x 2 Combiner Input
module convert incoming serial digital component video signals to par-
allel format and routes them to the Combiner for processing. The 2 x 2
Combiner Output module receives the processed signals from the
Combiner, converts the parallel video back to serial digital format, and
routes the video to its output connectors.
■
Four Channel Combiner Input and Output modules — The Four
Channel Combiner groups four sets of serial digital inputs on each
input module. Each Effect Manager has a single dedicated Four
Channel Combiner Output module, which produces a set of serial
digital combined output signals. Each Output module also has a back-
ground video input.
■
Four Channel Combiner Tally — This module has tally input and
output connectors and system control ports for Krystal Channels 5-8.
Additional options are available that consist of mezzanine boards that are
installed onto some of the Krystal modules.
