Motion Detection Menu Functions:
INTERP MODE
— allows you to choose the interpolation method used for
combining the resampled video:
ADAPT
—
the interpolation of the resampled video is based on the
motion detection threshold values. (The
MODIFY THRESHOLD
control
becomes available when this mode is selected.)
FIELD
—
forces the interpolation of the resampled video to only use the
current field of video. This method can cause a loss of resolution, but is
good for fast moving video.
FRAME
—
forces the interpolation of the resampled video to use both the
current and previous fields of video. This may be useful for still graphic
images or slow moving video.
The following parameters are available when the
ADAPT
mode is selected:
MODIFY THRESHOLD
— Motion thresholds are the amount of motion that is
acceptable and still have the interpolators (resamplers) use the full frame of
data. If the actual motion for a given pixel is greater than the threshold,
then the interpolators will NOT use both fields to do the interpolation for
that pixel. If the actual motion is less than the threshold, then both fields
will be used in the interpolation.
Motion thresholds are expressed as a percentage. If the threshold is set at
3% then any motion less than 3% is acceptable (meaning the data is accept-
able to do frame interpolation), while any motion greater than 3% will be
unacceptable (meaning the data is unacceptable to do frame interpolation;
it will use Field interpolation). A 0% would mean that ANY motion is unac-
ceptable and a threshold of 100% means ALL motion is acceptable.
