Motion Detection Menu
Motion Detection Menu
Whenever video is manipulated in any DPM, the video data must be resa-
mpled. In the process of video resampling, unwanted artifacts can occur
where there is motion in the video. Motion Detection is the process of
smoothing out or “hiding” such artifacts. Motion detection is especially
helpful when using fast moving video.
Krystal simultaneously performs two types of motion detection from a
Frame (comprised of 2 fields) stored in memory:
Frame Motion Detection — looks for differences between similar fields or
every other field:
Frame A Field 1 vs. Frame B Field 1;
Frame A Field 2 vs. Frame B Field 2.
The data compared is one FRAME apart.
Field Motion Detection — looks for differences between non-similar or adja-
cent fields:
Frame A Field 1 vs. Frame A Field 2;
Frame A Field 2 vs. Frame B Field 1;
Frame B Field 1 vs. Frame B Field 2.
The data compared is one FIELD apart.
The Motion Detection menu provides controls to clean up resolution by
changing the way in which the luminance, chrominance, and key signals
are processed. All Motion Detection parameters are part of source memory.
Freeze Override and Motion Detection Parameters
The Freeze Override feature maintains independent memory storage for
two additional sets of Motion Detection and Input Recursive parameters.
Settings from the Motion Detection menus can be saved to these separate
storage locations, and then invoked at any time by pressing the
Freeze 1 or
Freeze 2 Control Panel override buttons. These alternate sets of parameters
can be defined by pressing the Freeze 1 or Freeze 2 button so it is lit, and then
going to these menus and changing the parameters. Freeze Override is not
keyframeable, and is applied to all channels in the effect.
