SPECULAR DIFFUSION
—
controls how much light is scattered as it is
reflected off of the surface of the picture. With 100% diffusion it is as if
the light were reflecting off of a mirror. At 0% diffusion it is like light
reflecting off of a frosted piece of glass.
ADD/MIX RATIO
— a higher setting with this soft knob ADDS the lumi-
nance signal of the light with the luminance signal of the video. A lower
setting MIXES the luminance level of the light source with the video’s
luminance level. 100% indicates a full additive mix, 0% indicates a non-
additive mix.
OPACITY
— adjusts the Opacity for both lights when you have MIXED
the video (using the soft knob described above) to control how much
picture shows through the light if 100% mix, or how much light can be
added if 100% add. Since Opacity dissolves the light ON or OFF, you
can use opacity to turn the light OFF quickly.
Note
Start with Opacity set at 100% before adjusting the other three soft knobs. This
lets you more clearly see the effect the other knobs have on the picture.

SHADING APPEARANCE
include:
SHADING INTENSITY
—
this parameter controls how bright the illumina-
tion component of the light is.
AMBIENT LEVEL
—
this parameter controls how dark the deepest shadow
can be (100% is fully bright, eliminating the effect of the shading and
ambient light components; 0% goes to black). This control works well
with Kurl effects.
