2.4 Electronic CAM Function
This function calculates the moving amount of a slave axis with respect to the movement amount of
the master axis and operates the slave axis.

Relationship of master axes and slave axes
Control axes are divided into “master” and “slave” axes when the electronic CAM and electronic
shaft functions are used. A “slave axis” operates interlinked to the pulse distribution to the
operation of the master axis, following the movement of the “master axis.”
Reference
* The main CPU control axis supports the absolute specifications.
* All axes (main CPU control axis and extension motion control board control axis) can be assigned to
either main axis or slave axis. However, for XSEL-R/S, up to 6 axes can be assigned. (I/O parameter No.
529: Extension motion control board synchronizing main CPU control’s main axis pattern preset).
What is the electronic CAM function?
This function controls pulse train of
“slave axis”
according to the previously specified
“electronic CAM table,”
synchronous with the
“master axis.”
