Chapter 5 Handling Errors
5.1 Troubleshooting
If you connect support tools of RC controllers for the purpose of parameter settings, alarm
confirmation, etc., make sure to end X-SEL programs and turn the servo OFF, and do not operate
any axes. If the teaching tool is connected while the servo is still turned ON, an error may be
detected (error No. 458 “Slave driver servo ON signal OFF error” etc.) and displacement may occur
when controlling from X-SEL. Moreover, do not forget to allow RC controller movement mode to
launch PIO when you operate teaching tools and perform control from X-SEL again.
If errors related to axes of extension motion control boards occur, axes where errors occurred (No. 0
to 15) are displayed in Info.1 of the error list. Use this information to check erroneous axes. Teaching
tools for RC are required for RC axes.
If errors occur in movement axes in commands where the execution is completed during axis
movements, such as commands to start electronic CAM and other synchronization movements,
positioning commands enabling position complete band, etc., step No. where errors occurred, which
are displayed in the error list, become the step No. of commands that commanded axis movements,
not step No. being executed when errors occurred.
Phenomenon
Possible cause
Error No. 511 “Extension motion control board axis
servo ON/OFF timeout error” occurs at servo ON or
servo OFF.
There is no response from the RC controller although
servo ON/OFF signal is output from the XSEL
controller.
Cause: [1] Control output port numbers are wrong.
[2] A control I/O cable is disconnected or has
contact failure.
[3] The operation mode prohibits launching
PIO.
Action: [1] Check if the setting of I/O parameters
(extension motion control board control
output port head No.) of X-SEL is correct.
[2] Check servo ON command of a control I/O
cable, erroneous wiring of servo ON status
signal, disconnection, etc.
[3] Check if the operation mode of the RC
controller prohibits launching PIO.
Moreover, check if the MANU mode is set.
Error No. 458 “Slave driver servo ON signal OFF error”
occurs at servo ON or servo OFF.
Cause: Servo ON command from the RC controller is
cut while the servo is ON. The servo ON signal
may be disconnected or the RC controller is in
emergency stop status.
Action: [1] Check servo ON signal of a control I/O
cable, disconnection and/or connection
status of the servo ON status signal.
[2] Check if only the RC controller side is in
emergency stop status.
[3] Check if the servo is turned OFF from the
teaching tool of the RC controller while
servo ON command is being sent from X-
SEL.
