If the key is left in the RUN position, the meter
will continue to count-off hours and tenth-hours
until it is turned-off or the battery goes flat.
•
An hour-glass symbol flashes at the left end of
the display while the hour meter is counting
21d. The Battery light illuminates whenever the
hour meter senses that system voltage
has fallen below 12V. This generally indi-
cates a failure in the charging system.
See Figure 9.29.
•
When the key is first turned to any position other
than STOP, the hour meter display will momen-
tarily read “888.8”.
•
Following this it will display the battery voltage
for five seconds accompanied by a picture of a
battery at the left end of the display.
•
After five seconds, the display shifts to show
hours of operation.
21e. The Brake light illuminates when the
parking brake is applied and the key
switch is in any position other than STOP.
Operation of the brake switch is described
in the SAFETY SWITCHES section of this
chapter.
21f. The Glow Plug light (diesel only) is the
yellow lamp between the key switch and
the warning light cluster / hour meter.
See Figure 9.30.
•
The glow plug light receives power from a yellow
wire that is connected directly to the glow-plug
bus bar.
•
The green wire goes to ground.
21g. The Over-temp light (diesel only) is the
red lamp that is located between the key
switch and the four wheel drive engage-
ment switch. See Figure 9.31.
•
The over-temp light receives power through the
orange wire that connects to it whenever the key
switch is in any position other than STOP.
