The Starter motor on the Kohler engine is 
located on the outboard side of the engine block. 
The starter solenoid is part of the starter.  
See Figure 9.12.

FUEL SYSTEM chapter of this manual for spe-
cific removal instructions.

The Alternator / Regulator / Rectifier, Kohler 
engine are located on the engine.  
See Figure 9.13.
•
The alternator stator is concealed by the fly-
wheel. The rotor is built into the flywheel.
•
Refer to the KOHLER SERVICE ACCESS AND 
FUEL SYSTEM chapter of this manual for spe-
cific removal instructions. 
•
The Alternator feeds A.C. power out-put to the 
regulator/rectifier that is attached to the inboard 
side of the cooling fan shroud. See Figure 9.14.
•

FUEL SYSTEM chapter of this manual for spe-
cific removal instructions. 
•
Refer to the MAJOR CIRCUITS section of this 
chapter to test the charging system.

The Fuel Shut-off Solenoid for the Kohler 
engine is attached to the carburetor.

13.
The engine harness connection for the 
Kohler engine is fastened to the engine cooling 
shroud, directly above the starter motor.
