5.

Remove the CVT belt and pulleys as described
in the DRIVE SYSTEM: CVT BELT AND PUL-
LEYS section of this manual. See Figure 7.25.

6.

Remove the four bolts that hold the heavy steel
engine / transmission plate to the transfer case
using a 1/2” wrench.

Remove the four bolts that hold the back of the
belt cover to the engine using a 9/16” wrench.
The bolts pass through a spacer between the
plate and the engine.

NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the univer-
sal joint guard from the plate.

8.

Carefully lift the plate out of the engine bay. It is
most easily removed through the opening under
the passenger’s seat. See Figure 7.26.

Carefully disconnect the fuel line from the fuel
pump inlet barb on the valve cover on the #1 cyl-
inder. See Figure 7.27.

Clamp the fuel line to prevent spillage,

Protect the inlet barb to keep contaminates out
of the fuel system.

Cut the cable tie that holds the fuel line to the
engine lift ear on the #2 cylinder, position the
fuel line safely out of the way.

10.

Make sure that the differential lock control cable
will not interfere with engine removal.
See Figure 7.28.

Cut the cable tie that holds the cable to the
engine lift ear on the #2 cylinder.

Briefly disconnect the fuel line from the fuel
pump outlet barb, and move the cable clear.
