Types of Trouble and Their Solutions

Typical examples of trouble and respective remedies are listed below. If the
trouble is not solved in spite of all items having been checked, please contact
your Toshiba Technical Support.

The green power lamp does not light up

™

Is the server connected to an appropriately grounded AC power outlet?

™

For an EPS-R model, is the DC operate switch on the rear panel of the
server set to ON?

™

Are all the lamps on the EPS-R unit on?

™

Is the power lamp flashing amber?
If it is flashing amber, an incorrect number of the power units are
mounted.

™

Is the server in normal operation? If the server is in normal operation,
the power lamp is in trouble.

Characters are not displayed on the screen

™

Are the DC operate switch and the power switch on?

™

Is the keyboard connected properly?

™

Is the keyboard unlocked on a software basis? If the keyboard is locked,
release the lock by restarting the system.

™

Are the signal cable and power cord of the display unit connected prop-
erly?

™

Is the display unit powered on?

™

Is the display unit adjusted to appropriate brightness and contrast levels?

™

Does the display unit have all its switches set properly?

™

Is the operation mode of the system other than the security mode?

™

When Windows NT is used, are the current resolution and synchroniz-
ing frequency supported by the display unit? Start the server in VGA
mode to check for normal operation.

™

When the “Switchbox” of the rack model is used, is the server selected?
