Setting Up the Client for Operation
1 Connect a modem and then enter necessary data.
Connect a modem to the client and then enter necessary data. The serial
port of the EMP console must have been connected to the server via the
modem or directly connected using a serial cable.

Windows 95 or Windows NT) and the manual of the corresponding mode
NOTE:
When using Windows NT, be sure to use ServicePack Version 3 or succes-
sor. To use TAPI.DLL and TAPISRV.EXE, in particular, the module included
in ServicePack Version 3 or successor is required.
Set the transfer speed of the modem to 19200 bps.
After selecting “CONTROL PANEL”, “Modem”, “Properties”, “Total”, and
“Max. Speed”, in that order, select “19200”, then press the OK button, and
restart the system.
2 Install the software.
Start the client and then log in with Admin Password or with a user ID hav-
ing an equivalent access control level. Next, set the first floppy disk contain-
ing the EMP Console Application, in the floppy disk drive, and execute
SETUP.EXE. Subsequently, install the software in accordance with the
guidance messages displayed on the screen.
3 Connect the modem to the telephone line.
