Disk array (RAID) setting

If the server has RAID controllers, the disk array (RAID) must be set. Auto-
matic installation using “Toshiba Server Setup Tool” or custom installation
using “Simplified Setup” sets the optimum data for the disk array automati-
cally. To conduct custom installation using “Detail Setup”, the disk array must
be set. Refer to the MegaRAID User’s Manual.

NOTE: Refer to the Installation Guide or Online Help for the installation
procedure that requires using “ Toshiba Server Setup Tool”.

Installing the RAID Utility

Before using RAID controllers, be absolutely certain to install the RAID Utility
for the operating system. For example, install “Power Console” for Windows
NT or “MegaRAID Manager” for NetWare. Installation of inappropriate utility
will make it impossible for drives to be hot-swapped, or replaced, during the
operation of the drives if they suffer a fault.

NOTE: Before using Windows NT, be sure to install the NT Server Monitor.
All MegaRAID error messages can then be confirmed using the NT Event
Viewer.
Refer to the MegaRAID Software User’s Manual for further details of instal-
lation.
