Option: “Modem Init String”
Enter the model initialize command for using EMP.
Use this command only in EMP modem mode.
Refer to the relevant modem operating manual for the method of entering the
model initialize command.
Option: “High Model Init String”
The continuing part of the “Modem Init String”. If the modem initialize com-
mand is too long for “High Model Init String” (that is, more than 16 characters
long), an additional area will be displayed to allow four more characters to be
added.
Option: “EMP Access Mode”
Specify whether the EMP function is to be made valid or invalid.
To use the EMP function, usually select “Always Active”.
Settings: Disable
The server cannot be accessed with the EMP function. However, COM2 can
be used at any time when necessary.
Settings: Pre-Boot Only
The server can only be accessed during the time from startup to the termination
of POST.
Settings: Always Active
The server can always be accessed. However, COM2 cannot be used.
Option: “EMP Restricted Mode Access”
If “Enabled” is assigned, EMP will be ineffective for power on/off and system
resetting.
Option: “EMP Direct Connect/Modem Mode”
Specify the way the EMP function and the server are to be connected. Selec-
tion of “Direct Connect” means that COM2 and the EMP console are
connected directly through a serial interface cable. Selection of “Modem
Mode” means that they are connected using modems.
Please contact your TOSHIBA Magnia service provider for usable modem
types.
4 Save the above data settings, then shut down the server, and turn power off.
5 Connect modems to the telephone lines and the server.
