Time-varied gain is an increase in signal amplitude (gain) based on time so
that the longer sonar returns (which are weaker in signal strength than
nearby returns) will be proportionately compensated. The net result is that
far-range images will display the same level of detail as near-range images.
In Isis, the application of TVG is for display purposes only. Data will continue
to be processed and displayed while this dialog box is open or closed, once
TVG is selected. Table 10-6 explains the options.
