9.14 Subbottom Picking and Tracking
With Isis version 2.17 (both 16- and 32-bit versions) or later, Isis now supports
interactive subbottom reflector picking and tracking (“SBP”) in both Record or
Playback mode. In this context, a reflector is a generic term for anything that
reflects sound. This can be the first return, subbottom layer, thermocline, etc.
You can instruct Isis to correct the display of any subbottom channel for
variations in towfish depth. Refer
to 8.2, ‘Depth Delay and Duration’
for
details.
9.14.1 Picking a Subbottom Layer for Tracking
To pick something from the subbottom means to identify and mark one or
more reflective layers for tracking. Picking precedes tracking. Table 9-9
describes the items found in the Subbottom Picking and Tracking dialog
box.
To pick a first subbottom layer for tracking
1. Start Isis v2.17 or later.
2. From
the
Tools menu select Subbottom Picking.
The Subbottom Picking and Tracking dialog box appears to the right of
the main Isis window. An active, sample dialog box is shown in
Figure 9-26.
