2. Pick one of three available methods to use:
• Coverage Map only — This is the default; it quickly makes a
coverage map but does not make a mosaic; the resulting
coverage map cannot be used outside of Isis.
• Preview Mosaic with Coverage Map (NT/2000 only) — This
makes a mosaic, but no overlays or GIS options are available.
• Full Delph Map Mosaic — This makes a fully processed
mosaic. All mosaicking options (such as overlays, sediment
classification, 3-D models, data exporting, seismic integration)
become available for later processing in Delph Map. The mosaic
displays in Isis. This feature is not available for Windows 9x.
The most important difference between the methods is that the newer
method uses a Kalman filter to smooth the navigation instead of the
Coverage Map→Nav→Smooth Nav function. The following procedure
describes the new method.
9.4.1 ‘New
Method’
Full
DelphMap Mosaicking
This is the Kalman filtering method. The tasks for making a mosaic using the
newer mosaicking method are:
1. Load an XTF file into Isis and adjust the settings in Isis for the best
display of your data in the waterfall window.
2. Enter the required resolution, projection and filename.
3. Create the mosaic file by playing the XTF back in Isis, either with
DelphMap open so that the results can be viewed immediately, or by
creating the DDS_VIF file for later viewing in DelphMap.
Note:
All of the tasks, whether handled by Isis or Delph Map, can be
performed on single lines or on a range of lines. If you choose to process a
single line, then you will be able to select which lines will overlay other lines
in Delph Map.
Load an XTF file into Isis and adjust settings
1. Start Isis and click the Play toolbar icon, browse to an XTF file, and click
Open. The data begins scrolling in the display.
2. Set the bottom track, slant range correction and TVG to get the best
display of the data in the Isis waterfall window (see elsewhere in this
manual for details).
Remember that these settings will be applied to
all
the lines
you are processing, so experiment to see which settings work
best for a selection of different lines.
