To use the Trackpoint option in Isis, the Trackpoint system must be
interfaced to the vessel’s gyrocompass and provide Isis with true E-W
(X-offsets) and N-S (Y-offsets). Isis cannot make these calculations.
In general, the best way to interface this type of acoustical tracking device is
to use a dedicated navigation computer, which has the output of this computer
going directly to Isis. This kind of connection provides a true towfish position
to Isis.
8.8 Bearing to Point
Bearing to Point gives you a way to steer your towfish to some point, imaginary
or real, on your survey path. After choosing Bearing to Point from the View
menu, the system displays a dialog box similar to that shown in Figure 8-15. You
then supply the northings and eastings (or lat/long) of your destination; Isis will
display the equivalent range and bearing.
