9.10 Output Telemetry

Isis can extract and output telemetry data from your imagery and put the
extracted data in a serial port, an ASCII log file, or both. You can do this in
Playback mode or in Record mode. You have a choice of two formats: SIS-1000
(or SIS-7000) or Generic format.

• In SIS-1000 format, the data output to the serial port and/or file is a close

reconstruction of the original serial string supplied by the SIS-1000 in
record mode.

• In Generic format, the following data items are output to the serial port

and/or log file: Nav Y position, nav X position, heading, pitch, roll, speed,
depth, altitude, range scale (first channel) and Aux values. 7. Output also
is triggered by changing event numbers.

Once extracted, the output can be used as input to other applications, such
as HySweep.

9.10.1 Interpreting Telemetry Data Going to a Serial
Port

Generic telemetric data going to a serial port is output in the following form
as a single string. (Space considerations in this document force us to show
the string on multiple lines.)
Nav_Y_position Nav_X_position heading pitch roll speed
depth altitude range_scale Aux(1) Aux(2) Aux(3) Aux(4)
Aux(5) Aux(6)
Event_# Magnetometer_X Magnetometer_Y Magnetometer_Z

Note:
Underscores are used above to join words together when two or more
words represent a single string; white space delimits the variables. The altitude is
usually derived from towfish telemetry. If bottom track is enabled, then altitude
comes from bottom-tracking. Range-scale comes from the first channel.

Table 9-5 shows sample output (two records), captured at a serial port.
