Figure 8.1.1A - Frequency Response Test Setup Menu
The Frequency Response Test Setup menu has several options that appear at the upper part of the screen
(see the previous illustration). The parameters can be modified to customize a frequency response test.
The following describes the frequency response test setup options:
TEST TYPE:
The user can choose from Single End or End-to-End RX. Each of these tests are
described in Sections 5.2.2 – 5.2.3. For End-to-End testing, activate one
CableSHARK to Responder Mode from its Main Menu.
RESULT
SCALING:
Result Scaling allows the user to select a horizontal scale for which to plot test
results. Options are ISDN – 500 kHz, HDSL – 1000 kHz, ADSL – 2208 kHz, VDSL –
6000 kHz (Note the VDSL option is not available for End-to-End test type).
TERMINATION
IMPEDANCE:
The CableSHARK's impedance needs to match the characteristic impedance of the
cable. This causes the CableSHARK at either end of a test circuit not to reflect back
any test signals or unnecessarily attenuate the test signal. The options are 100
ohms, 135 ohms, and AUTO (older hardware will still show 120 and 150 ohms).

If the SINGLE END Test Type is selected, the following settings are available.
