Auto Shut Off
(min):



Allows the user to specify the length of time after the last key press that the unit will
automatically turn off to conserve the battery. Available options are 0 (continuous
operation) up to 60 minutes in 1 minute increments. Press ENTER when the value is
correctly entered to save your changes. More parameters can be changed at this point,
or press MAIN MENU to return to the Main Menu.

NOTE: THIS FUNCTION ONLY WORKS WHEN THE UNIT IS OPERATING FROM
THE CABLESHARK’s INTERNAL BATTERY AND IS NOT IN REMOTE RESPON-
DER MODE.

Live Signal Thr
(dBm)



This parameter allows the user to specify the live signal threshold used by the
CableSHARK. Values are from –25 to –45 dBm, with the default being –30 dBm.

When the CableSHARK detects a live signal on the line during the execution of a test
the unit will not perform the measurement. Instead, the CableSHARK will prompt the
user with “Live Signal Detected”. A live signal could be from AC influence, excessive
crosstalk, etc. The test is not performed as the live signal may influence a test in such a
way that the CableSHARK may present inaccurate results.

Measurement
Standard:

Allows the user to specify the operating environment of the CableSHARK; either ANSI
(North America) or ITU (Europe and the rest of the world). If using ANSI, measurement
names are changed to support OPENS meter, SHORTS meter, and
STRESS/LEAKAGE meter.

Distance Units:

Allows the user to specify the default units for distance used by the CableSHARK.
Options are FEET and METERS.

Wire Size:

Allows the user to specify the default wire size used by the CableSHARK. Options are
AWG (North America) or mm (Europe and the rest of the world).

Language:

Allows a user to load a new language library into the CableSHARK. All text and results
will be displayed in the new language.

IP Address:

Allows the user to place the CableSHARK into a network. Set up an IP address for the
CableSHARK. Contact your IT department for an IP address to use.

Subnet Mask:

Allows the user to set the subnet mask for the network the CableSHARK is being
placed in. Contact your IT department for an IP address to use.

Gateway:

Allows the user to define the Gateway IP Address for the network the CableSHARK is
