This option can be ordered from EXFO. A special alphanumeric software key will be sent to the purchaser
based upon each CableSHARK’s unique serial number. To determine the options currently installed in the
CableSHARK or to view the units unique serial number, go to SYSTEM SETUP and select the OPTIONS
function key (see Section 6.4). Once the key is properly entered, the user can exit to the MAIN MENU, select
CABLE TESTS, and then select SPECTRAL DETECTIVE from the pop-up menu. The following setup
screen will appear.

The Spectral Detective Test Setup menu has the following configuration options.

TEST TYPE:

Options are SPECTRAL DETECTIVE 2.2 MHz and SPECTRAL DETECTIVE 6.0
MHz

REFERENCE IMP.

To measure the proper noise level it is desirable to know what the cable is
typically terminated at. This provides the CableSHARK with the proper conversion
factor for voltage to power. Examples: ADSL uses 100 ohm termination, SHDSL
uses 135 ohm termination.

MEASUREMENT
UNITS

Allows the user to specify the measurement units for the test. The choices are
dBm and dBr n.
