RESISTANCE
FAULT LOCATOR:
The function button associated with RESISTANCE FAULT LOCATOR invokes the
RFL SETUP screen. This test allows users to determine the distance to a short,
ground or battery cross by using a separate good pair to evaluate the faulty pair
against.
K-TEST:
The function button associated with K-TEST invokes the K-TEST SETUP screen.
This test allows users to determine the distance to a short, ground or battery cross
by using a single pair of wires.
4 WIRE XTALK:
The function associated with 4 WIRE XTALK invokes the 4 WIRE XTALK SETUP
screen. This test allows users to run a Near End Crosstalk measurement over 2
pairs of wires. The CableSHARK is able to transmit a signal over one pair of wires
and is able to measure the effects of crosstalk on an adjacent pair of wires.
ISOLATION or
STRESS
LEAKAGE:
The function associated with ISOLATION TEST or STRESS LEAKAGE (depends
on unit setup) invokes the ISOLATION or STRESS LEAKAGE TEST SETUP
screen. This test allows users to evaluate the integrity of the insulation surrounding
the copper pair using a 100 VDC input. Results presented are up to 999 Mohm.
GROUND
RESISTANCE:
The function associated with GROUND RESISTANCE invokes the GROUND
RESISTANCE TEST SETUP screen. This test allows users to evaluate the
resistance at the Central Office to ensure that it is < 25 ohms.
VF TESTS:
The function associated with VF TESTS invokes the VF TESTS SETUP screen.
Users can select from TX/RX VF, Noise tests, and Impulse Noise tests, all in the
voice frequency band.
RINGER
DETECTION Selecting RINGER DETECTION from the CABLE TESTS pop-up menu invokes
the RINGER DETECTION SETUP menu, allowing the CableSHARK to evaluation
a telephone line for the presence, quantity, and quality of ringers.
