The Isolation Resistance test setup options are described as follows:
TEST TIME (SEC): The user can specify the “soak” time or the duration of the test in which 100 VDC
is applied to the circuit. Allowable times are from 1 to 99 seconds.
CONNECTION: The user can select ALL, TIP-RING, TIP-GROUND, and RING-GROUND for
which to perform the test on.
8.9.2 Running an Isolation Resistance Test
Use caution when connecting the test set, as telephone cables may have dangerous A.C. or
D.C. voltages on them. The Isolation Resistance Test injects 100 VDC onto the line however
it is current limited.
Press the function button corresponding to the RUN / STOP button on the front of the CableSHARK to
initiate the test. Figure 8.9.2A shows an example of the results obtained from an Isolation Resistance Test.
