How This Guide is Organized
This manual is divided into the following sections.
Section I: Basic Operations
The chapters in this section explain how to perform basic operations on
the switch using the web browser interface. Some of the operations
include setting port parameters, creating static port trunks, and viewing the
MAC address table.
Section II: Advanced Operations
The chapters in this section explain some of the more advanced
operations of the switch, such as using the file system and downloading
and uploading files.
Section III: SNMPv3 Operations
The chapter in this section explains how to configure the switch for
SNMPv3. (The instructions for SNMPv1 and SNMPv2 are in Section I,
Basic Operations.)
Section IV: Spanning Tree Protocols
The chapters in this section configure the Spanning Tree, Rapid Spanning
Tree, and Multiple Spanning Tree Protocols.
Section V: Virtual LANs
The chapters in this section configure port-based and tagged VLANs,
GVRP, and the multiple VLAN modes.
Section VI: Port Security
The chapters in this section explain the MAC address security system and
802.1x port-based access control.
Section VII: Management Security
The chapters in this section explain the management security features,
such as the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and the Secure Shell (SSH)
protocols.
