MonarchNet for NetWare
5-17
P r i n t i n g
To submit a job to a print queue serviced by the Monarch device, use
CAPTURE, NPRINT or PCONSOLE.
To use NPRINT from the DOS command line when you are logged into the
network, type the following:
NPRINT file_name /q=q_name /s=file_server_name
where q_name and file_server_name were defined earlier.
This command sends a single print job to the printer. It assumes your DOS
PATH is set up correctly to execute NPRINT. A default job configuration
assigned in the NetWare PRINTCON utility determines other job features
such as banner pages and additional form feeds. For example, to print
file1.doc to the queue NWP_QUEUE on file server FS2, type:
NPRINT file1.doc /Q=NWP_QUEUE /S=FS2
To use CAPTURE from the DOS command line when you are logged into the
network, type the following:
CAPTURE lptx /q=q_name /s=file_server_name
where x is 1, 2 or 3
The CAPTURE command redirects output from the printer port to the queue.
This redirection remains in effect until you issue another CAPTURE or an
ENDCAP command. To configure your printing environment when you boot
your PC, you may place a CAPTURE command in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file
after the network login (or place the CAPTURE command in you login script).
For example:
CAPTURE lpt1 /Q=NWP_QUEUE /S=FS2
will send print data directed to LPT1 to queue NWP_QUEUE on file server
FS2.
For more information on these printing commands, additional parameters or
the PCONSOLE utility, refer to your Novell NetWare Print Server
documentation.
If you are still unable to configure your computer system to print to the
Monarch device, contact Technical Support.
