To configure Token Ring specific information, select the Token Ring tab.
Priority
When a data packet is placed on the Token Ring network, it
can be assigned a priority. The priority level may range
from a low of 0 to a high of 6. The priority of the packets
sent by the MonarchNet can be increased to improve
printing performance. However, the performance of file
servers and crucial stations could be affected.
Routing
Select one of the following options. The default is All, None.
All, None - The frame will be transmitted on every route
within the network, resulting in multiple copies on a given
ring. This option determines the fastest route between
nodes.
Single, All - The frame will be transmitted across
designated bridges, resulting in the frame appearing only
once on each ring. The response frame is broadcast to the
originator on all routes.
Single, None - The frame will be transmitted across
designated bridges, resulting in the frame appearing only
once on each ring.
Early Token
Release
Early Token Release enhances ring performance by
releasing the token before receiving the completed frame.
Early Token Release is enabled by default if your ring is
running at 16 Mbps and is disabled a 4 Mbps. It is
acceptable to enable Early Token Release on some stations
while disabling Early Token Release on others.
