The following options are used to configure the Monarch device TCP/IP-
specific settings for your environment.

Screen regions and buttons

Connection timeout enabled is used to sever network TCP/IP connections
that are idle for more than five minutes. Under most conditions, this option
should remain enabled.

IP Address Resolution

Set Permanent allows assignment of a permanent IP address. If the Monarch
device has been configured to remember its IP address, it does not need to
determine its address each time it is powered on. Enter the Monarch device
IP address. The IP address must follow the format XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX,
where each XXX is a number between 0 and 255.

CAUTION

If you enter an invalid IP address, you may not be able to

access the device using the TCP/IP protocol.

Use Network Protocol allows selection of RARP, BOOTP or DHCP to
determine the Monarch device IP address at power up.

Subnet Mask allows you to enter a subnet mask. If your network environment
includes subnets, you will want to set the subnet mask. The subnet mask
must follow the format XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX, where each XXX is a number
between 0 and 255. The default subnet mask is 0.0.0.0. The Monarch device
interprets a subnet mask of 0.0.0.0 or 255.255.255.255 as no subnet mask
specified.

CAUTION

If you enter an invalid subnet mask, you may not be able

to access the Monarch device using the TCP/IP protocol.

Default Gateway allows assignment of a default gateway address if your
network is attached to other networks. This gateway will be used whenever
messages need to be sent to another network. This gateway address must
follow the format XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX, where each XXX is a number between
0 and 255.
