1-38 MonarchNet for TCP/IP
Specifying
ASCII
formatting
:
Monarch print servers are designed to handle many different
types of printers and print data. Typically you will select the
printer type for your printer in the Telnet configuration utility.
However, if you are connecting to an ASCII printer, you may
wish to use the print server to format the print data for your
printer. Monarch print servers support two types of ASCII
formatting:
FF
Use the FF suffix at the end of the Remote Print Queue
Name, before the printer port number (for multi-output print
servers). Example: queueFF (for single-output print servers)
or queueFF2 (for multi-output print servers).
If the last
character in the print job is not a form feed, the print server
appends a form feed.
LF
Use the LF suffix at the end of the Remote Print Queue
Name, before the printer port number (for multi-output print
servers). Example: queueLF (for single-output print servers)
or queueLF2 (for multi-output print servers). In addition to
the form feed described above, the print server inserts a
carriage-return character into the print job immediately
before each line-feed character. This feature is useful for
printing Unix text files.
